Anand Vidyalaya – Week 2
When you look at these 2 things – A foam sheet used for painting & an empty carton, what comes to your mind? Junk? garbage?
Well I think of infinite possibilities.. and thank you all for trusting my instincts and wholeheartedly donating all the junk from your homes & offices. There were a few of you who donated sequins, satin ribbons, glue, box cartons – NAN boxes, Cerelac, Kellogs ..Thank you! we used it all.
The foam sheets turned into teddy bears for the younger kids [ 1st standard to 5th ]
The bigger kids used the cereal cartons and some newspapers to make carry bags. We used cello tapes to secure the newspaper , the golden ribbons donated to form the handles & some crepe ribbons were used to make flowers. All stuff was donated.
Since we had only 25 cartons, we had the other half bunch do some free hand drawing.. I demonstrated some madhubani style drawing to them and then left them to create their own masterpieces.
A closeup of their art work
Next time I’m planning to have them color plastic & glass bottles and make vases / pen stands, A few can decorate OLD cds and the younger kids can make something from Ice cream sticks. The main thing is that we need stuff donated in bulk. The complete list is here
We need more OLD CDs, bottles 1 ltr or smaller ( transparent), cello tapes & crepe papers.
Ps: We have more than enough pencils, rubbers & sharpeners thanks to all the donations so far! 🙂
