Puppet show..

Thanks to Abha, who had a fabulous Puppet show as part of Cub's 4th birthday, Lil P was inspired to have her own puppet show. Every night we had to hear stories ... Here is what she drew .. She stuck 2 icecream sticks below each A4 sheet and that was her setup and prop.

Lil p 's imaginary friend (extreme right) who is a boy and is 5 years old already and then Lil P  ( to his right) all playing football. each has a football so that they don't fight .. They are all her day care friends

Story of Meena & Lil p rt bottom. The wavy patterns is water puddles.. there is a rainbow , smiling  sun, the circles next to the house are raindrops .. They are so happy because there is a lot of water to play with ( dark blue area) . The square at bottom left is a bus.. and the stars are tickets for the puppet show.
A scene from our apartment .. City picture - 2 friends happily playing. Bottom square is again a bus..
A scene at the beach.. the wavy patterns are waves the black area is a sand pit. Its Lil p's happy family. Mom dad, and both sets of grandparents
This is a painting of her room. top left her 3 toys - teddy bear , dora & rabbit. The rectangle with boxes is the window with curtain.. The square lower bottom is the TV with her fav program running - CBeebies. The yellow blue and white are her 3 dolls - urvi, mahi & tina. The rectangle at lower left is her bed.
Sheela is the story teller. Telling a story of kids playing in the park. Can you see some swings?? The grey lines is sand ..
My God! what imagination these kids have! :)

Traditional day at school

As part of the traditional day at school, each kid had to go dressed in an ethnic wear according to a state and carry the delicacy of that region. Lil P went dressed as a Punjaban to school. She carried samosas to share  with her friends.
Here's a blurred pic of her in her pink chudidar wearing a paranda.

Weekend trip to TATA Plantation trails, Coorg

Its like a trip overdose and we are not done yet.. On a sudden whim we decided to go to the Tata plantation trails at Coorg. I've been wanting to there for a long long time and Hubby wanted to take me there on the 15th Aug weekend.. but since bookings were full, they asked him if we'd like to visit the 20th Aug weekend.
The weather was perfect for the drive .. we started at 7.15 Am.. stopped at halli mane for breakfast and reached polibetta , Coorg by lunch time. We took the Mysore ring road instead of the Srirangapatna route - BIG mistake. The whole Mysore ring road has been dug up and has crazy diversions.
Coming back to our stay at Wushully Bungalow, its a beautiful cottage with 3 bed rooms [ be sure to book the heritage room] a TV room , a living area with a magazine library & a dining room.. There is a hugeeee varandah where you can sit and relax. For entertainment, they have a  jeep ride through the plantation where we saw pepper, coffee, irrigation system, vanilla shrubs. There also have a nature walk in the evening where we saw a variety of birds, they also have Tata sky, carom board and cards. Their other bungalow - Thanerulla Estate has a indoor tennis clay court and a golf course nearby. The food is awesome and they customize it if you let them know in advance. I loved the cutlery and the table cloth and staying in a brish styled bungalow.. The bathroom and other facilities are new and really clean. Would def recommend it to any one who is visiting.. Though a bit on the pricey side - Room cost us 9000 for 3 ppl and food is charged rs 300 per head per meal.. Here are some pics - put my DSLR to test

and the flowers

and finally , a pic that my sister clicked :)

My Favorite Freedom Fighter

Lil p had to speak about her favorite Freedom fighter on 17th Aug, 2011 at her school ... So we got her prepared to say this
Hello Friends,
Once upon a time Britishers ruled India.
Gandhiji was one of the freedom fighters.
He was a great leader.
He started the dandi march & satyagraha
He always said
Dont talk bad things
Don't hear bad things
Dont see bad things
With his help India got independence in 1947
Jai Hind.
Thank you.

and here is what she said the first time

Rakhsha Bandhan

We went to visit Hubby's cousin who has 2 pretty love birds - Neelima & Sundari.. They practically have a room to themselves and are allowed to fly about in the whole house. Lil p was so fascinated by them.. what they ate, why they were not eating, how do they know they are thirsty, why are there sticks in the cage? how do u know its a boy or a girl? why they don't have nests? Had a fun time answering her questions and relaxing .. she now wants pets! so we will be buying a fish bowl this Sept.

Then we went to meet my cousin to see P's Lil Brother - Raaghav
He is an year old already and talks a lot.. Well we did aarti to him but he refused to get the rakhi tied.. Lil p was a little disappointed but it soon disappeared when moni maushi gave her a lovely purse as a gift. Thank you maushi.. The purse now holds all her precious color-color clips.

We also bought our first DSLR  a Canon 550D with kit lens + a 50mm f1.8 lens from Foto circle, Bangalore.

Trip to Chittoor

15th Aug was a long weekend and as usual Hubby Dearest was restless. Lets go somewhere! .. As expected, all the hotels, resorts within 500Km of Bangalore were booked. I was secretly happy that I would finally get a weekend to relax. But I really should not underestimate my hubby. Hez the poster boy for jugaad. Somehow he found a booking at a resort at Chittoor. We left on on Sunday morning at 8 Am and reached BANS resort at 12. They have some water games and since it was so hot, we jumped into the pool rt away..They have a wave pool, a swimming pool, a trampoline, man made water fall, misty rain, emu, ducks, birds, a mini indoor amusement video games etc.  , .. It was an ok ok place. The rooms were AC and decent. Food was good.. but service very slow.

There are some nice places to see nearby which we drove down to on 15th Aug, after a flag hoisting ceremony at the hotel.. You can visit the Chandragiri fort that houses a archeological museum and they also have a laser show at 7 PM on weekends [ we missed this ] .. Bought a few goodies on the way back - pots from palamner, Freshly picked custard apples & jamuns sold by the road side.

A decent place to go for a weekend.

Crazy times

I'm referring to Lil P. Lil p has always been a very disciplined child... She never put anything in her mouth even as a kid... She hated getting her hands dirty or her clothes soiled. She has the cleanliness traits of my mom... So I'm really surprised that at the age of 5 she has started "experimenting" !
Last week she put a matchstick in her ear.. and came yelping that it hurt! I was so scared that she had hurt herself really bad looking at how she was screaming. I took her twice to the doc just to be sure that nothing was hurt. Then she put  a crayon up her nose! which I could easily pull out with tweezers.. Then yesterday she put the balloon blower in her mouth and tripped off the chair and it cut her palate. Bloodied mouth, screaming P.. I gave her an ice cream to eat and it calmed her down.. But Its so scary!!! Why is she doing all this now? I am afraid that she might try something more stupid.. I caught her trying to use the sketch pen on her lips as a lipstick [ I never wear lipstick] ...  I have seen her looking at the switches very curiously.. I have taped them all out but its just few days before she (easily) pulls them out.

I'm feeling guilty that maybe shez trying it to get my attention or maybe some kid in her day care tries it and shez copying them. [ Reminder to self - Talk to day care people] . I have sat her down and talked about dangerous and stupid things.. She nods her head and keeps saying sorry all the time.. But then she goes n does something more stupid.

All you mothers of naughty kids.. how are you handling it?
