Hi Shruti!!
Congratulations on achieving this awesome milestone of your blog. Do I need an introduction? Well, I simply love the kind of artsy-craftsy contest stuff that is going on your blog. Though I haven't taken part in any so far, I have thoroughly enjoyed each of the entry and like the kind of creativity people put in to come up with such great things.
If I go on listing all my favorite post links here, it will hit a century for sure!!!
Wish you knock down many more such milestones in the days to come. All the best.
@Mohan: Thank you for the encouragement :)  I love your blog updates too. Really informative, precise & complete. I found ur this post really useful.

lostworld on May 15, 2010 11:57 AM said...
200 ? I'm reeling in shock!!! You're faster than supersonic aircrafts :-) Congrats Shruti.
I first landed here searching for 'how to change blog template'. I found it in one of your old posts with links & steps on how to change the template. I suppose thats how I became a faithful follower. I don't have suggestions for improvement since I think the charm is lost if you take in inputs. You have your own brand, unique way of showcasing yourself through your blog & trust me, your creativity shines through!! Ok, now should I go on or will you give me the card! Heeeee ;-D
@Lostworld: LOL. I do remember both of us discussing abt blog templates. I'm still waiting for ur artsy-craftsy entry :) . I love the latest paintings that u have done and your this post is 1 of my favorites.
Lavanya Sriram on May 15, 2010 12:42 PM said...
Hey Shruthi,
Congrats !!! 200th post is indeed an achievement !
I love the artsy crafty challenges that you come up with ! And this kind of drive needs a lot of commitment and time from you. This is indeed a lot of hard work and I salute you for the same. With a regular job, a kid in tow and a hubby now in college, you find time for these as well and you indeed rock !
As for me, I am the least bit arty or crafty, never have been right from childhood, but I have started to take an interest because of my kid! She's only 2 now, but got to know something to teach her and be with her right? I love all the entries submitted by others and I am J (jealous) of people who are so creative and come up with beautiful stuff with apparently no effort! While I rack my brains and come up with nothing ! I wish I could come up with something nice and beautiful one day ! mm...sigh..Hope so!
I got to know about your blog from artnavy's blog and from then on, I have been hooked :)
You open up another world for all the moms out there. Not only do you encourage people to get creative, it also helps gain quality time with kids for moms who otherwise might be racking their brains for ideas of "what next" to engage the kid !
Superb effort ! I wish you all success in all yr endeavors! Maintain your individuality and initiatives !keep us entertained ! And keep giving us chances for awards and prizes :)
and not to mention the hand made card and surprise gift as well :)
@lavanya: you are one of my latest blog friends and I hope this friendship lasts for a long long time :) I started the artsy-craftsy because I had a few craft ideas that I & Lil p loved to make. I thought why not share it with others. I'm glad you are enjoying it as much as I do. Thank you for this lovely comment. U captured the essence of artsy-craftsy. :)

Artnavy on May 15, 2010 1:41 PM said...
I love your creativity
I enjoy all your Artsy Craftsy posts and love it that you give equal importance to all who participate though you may declare winners
good job - congrats on your 200!!
@Art : Thank you. I do try to give equal importance but choosing a winner is really tough. I love all the entries. They show the love that went in to make them. I'm glad that in a small way, I'm able to motivate people to get artsy-craftsy with their kids :)
I loved the chennai chronicles that u blogged about. It really warmed my heart. Hope u do a similar series on bangalore too. :)

Shankari on May 15, 2010 2:52 PM said...
Congratulations Shruti! 200 is a wonderful! Here's to you reaching 500 soon :)
I really don't know how I ended up on your blog. But I am hooked now :) My day is not complete without checking yours and a couple of other blogs now-a-days!
You helped unleash the artsy in me and I love you for that. I don't think I would have ever created so many things without your monthly mingles. So keep up the good work and keep inspiring us moms to work harder :)
I really don't have one particular post that I love, I love all of it! But I love one picture from your recent trip to in-laws, the one of little P sitting on the sand in the evening sun... it has such a calming effect!
Congratulations once again!
@shankari: Thank you. That pic is my fav too. My hubby is a total sunset kind of a guy. He clicked that via his 2 MP mobile phone. Can u believe that?? I loved ur first entry to artsy-craftsy & just adore ur narad prince (and princesses ;) )

Hi! :)
I think 200 posts or not, ure a star - caring for ur lil girl, home, work and on top of all that this blog with its artsy craftsy contest. WOW.
What I like is that ur sincerity and commitment shows in every post and response. Your creativity is inspiring. Whats even more commendable is that ure encouraging those who aren't as artsy, or those who may not know they have the talent. That is truly something. To the extent that uve got an art challenged me trying to come up with something presentable.
Card or no card, I have to let u know how much I appreciate ur effort :)
Hi :) I'm no star. I just do what I love to do. Some people cook, some travel, some exercise regularly and stay fit. I am not 1 of them. If I'm able to blog thats because of a loving husband, my really calm Lil P, a regular cook and a fabulous servant *kala-tikka* Thank you for such kind words :) now that our Lil P's are in the same ilaka. We shud plan & meet soon.

Thermocol aarthi plates

Remember you can leave more than 1 comment at my 200th Post giveaway :)  Hop on over there first if u haven't done so yet.

Nitya sent in some lovely Aarti plates made with thermocol plates.. n guess who made them?? Her grandmother!!! What an inpiration to have such talented people in your family. You guys have to check out this page. Presenting

Here's what nitya has to say - "She (Nitya's Grandma)  has actually done around 50 different plate decorations, but i don't have pics of all. I have collaged few and sent for the event. :) She has used fevicol to stick different articles on the plate in nice decorative patterns. This is really simple, hence age group from 4-10 can make it according to their creativity. My grandma is 80 years old and she was so excited to know that her art is part of a contest now. :) Thanks a lot in advance dear and good luck for the event. :) "

I am much humbled Nitya. Thank you for sharing these lovely crafts. I'm inspired by your grandmother. I salute her creativity, her patience and most of all for the love only grandmas can show.

Thermocol monogrammed Frame

First things first.  Have you checked out my 200th Post giveaway yet?? :) Just leave a comment there to win a handmade card & a surprise gift.

I sooo loved the idea of this month's artsy-craftsy that I had to make a few crafts too! I'm brimming with amazing ideas but don't have the time to make all of them. But here's one I'm sure U'll love to do. This is not for younger kids.. mostly for Mommies who want to make something for their kid.

 Thermocol monogrammed Frame

 Materials Required:
  1. Thermocol Sheet
  2. Pink Patterned paper ( Gift wrapping paper)
  3. Cutter to cut the thermocol
  4. Glue
  5. 3-D stickers or any other embellishments
  6. Scissors
  7. Satin ribbon for the bow.
  8. Orange crayon / oil pastel
  9. Pink / Orange acrylic color to paint the sides

Steps:

  1. Take a printout of the Alphabet on a sheet of paper. For beginners Times Roman is an easier font to cut.
  2. Trace it onto the patterned paper & thermocol & cut along the edges.
  3. Color the Thermocol a bright orange along the edges. Leave the top & bottom bare.
  4. Form a bow with the satin ribbon and stick it in between the patterned paper & thermocol.
  5. Embellish with Stickers.
  6. Take an orange crayon and lightly rub along the edges to give a more woody effect.

What do u think??
