I bought a Nikon D 90 recently..It is AMAZING!
Yeah--scanners plus printer (and mine is a photocopier too) are sooooo useful!
If you want some nice printabl crafts for children, dltk-kids is a great resource.

Canon - 5D/7D
Nikon - D60/D80/D90
I would suggest buying a nikkon d40 it has been discontinued but it is the ultimate beginner dslr. An used one also will perfectly do

I actually have an ancient Canon digicam..the kinds that would be on display soon in museums & exhibitions so I better not dole out advice. Go with the experts!
er...I have a small sony digicam. Most times I forget to carry it along, the other times I'm busy posing in front of it! So I'l be of no help there :D.
